What is vitamin E ?
Vitamin E, or tocopherol, is a group of fat-soluble biologically active substances, of which there are eight. The name tocopherol, consisting of the Greek words tocos ("offspring") and phero ("to be born"), was given by its discoverers, biologists Herbert Evans and Catherine Bishop, when during one of their studies they found that the lack of this substance causes infertility in experimental animals. This was followed by a great variety of other discoveries - vitamin E proved to be very versatile.
