Skin is one of the main indicators of health, and it shows just how much a woman takes care of herself. For that reason alone, no amount of makeup can replace good skin care. For centuries, women invented various remedies as they understood that beautiful skin is the key to attractiveness and popularity. Today, there are countless beauty and skin care products on the market, but very few can be trusted because our skin immediately reacts to even the tiniest of changes. That is why the Yofing skin care line has effective and safe products for every skin type: normal, oily, dry, and combination. But before you make your choice, you have to know which products would be the most beneficial for you. That is why you have to know your skin type.
So what kind of skin types are there?
Normal skin
Normal skin is smooth and doesn’t have any visible imperfections, such as blemishes, scars, or pimples. The pores are barely visible and, due to normal hydro-lipid balance, the skin remains matte. Normal skin stays in good condition throughout the year and doesn’t require the use of special medical-grade products, so skin care is basic and aimed primarily at maintaining its healthy state.
Dry skin
Women with dry skin tend to give it far less attention than needed. At first sight everything seems to be perfect: there’s no oily shine or blemishes, the skin is mostly smooth, and it even has a hint of blush to it. But in reality, the epidermis is extremely thin – you can see all the little veins and capillaries right through it. Due to insufficient activity of the sebaceous glands, the skin is highly vulnerable to environmental exposure. Any weather changes bring a certain discomfort to dry skin owners: flaking and peeling from low temperatures, irritation from wind, and frequent sunburns in the summer. As a result, women with dry skin are prone to early wrinkling. People with dry skin should be very careful while choosing skin care products so as not to compromise already delicate epidermis. Dry skin starts aging quite early, but with the help of correct skin care products it is possible to keep all the benefits of dryness while fighting the flaws.
Oily skin
Women with oily skin often complain about breakouts, inflammation, and enlarged pores. Their face is almost always shiny and even touching it feels unpleasant – the skin leaves a greasy residue. The root of the problem is the excessive activity of the sebaceous glands. Despite all the aforementioned flaws, women with this skin type have certain advantages. The epidermis has a strong lipid barrier, which helps to combat the damage from exposure to wind, sun, or low temperatures. Increased skin oiliness is also known to contribute to the prevention of fine lines and wrinkles. However, oily skin requires a consistent and thorough skin care regimen – that is the only way to retain a healthy lipid barrier and improve the skin’s appearance while maintaining all the benefits of this particular skin type.
Combination skin
Women with combination skin often experience all the troubles of dry and oily skin. Usually, the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) is quite oily and may have pimples, blackheads, or irritation, while the skin on the cheeks and around the eyes is dry and prone to fine lines, peeling and red patches. Combination skin is very common, and there are plenty of skin care products for this “all in one” skin type. With proper adjustments, it is possible to keep combination skin happy, healthy, and beautiful.
What skin type do you have? How to determine it yourself.
Now that we know all the peculiarities of each skin type, it’s time to move from theory to practice. The foundation of all skin care lies in knowing what skin type your skin is the closest to. Luckily, it’s possible to find it out yourself.
Just remember these simple rules:
- Don’t do any tests if you’ve been under a lot of stress lately or if your skin has been exposed to harsh weather conditions (e.g., if you have been tanning or if any allergic reactions or rashes have occurred).
- Don’t do any tests from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. as your sebaceous glands are the least active during this period of time.
- Make sure not to wear any makeup for at least three hours prior to the test.
- If you want to be 100% sure about the results, redo the test in a couple of days.
The easiest way to determine your skin type is to do a paper tissue test.
Remove all make-up and wash your face, wait a couple of hours, then:
- Lay down.
- Put a paper tissue on your face and gently press. The tissue should be touching your skin all over the surface.
- Keep the tissue on your face for up to 10 minutes and then examine it.
- Noticeable marks all over the tissue – you have oily skin.
- No marks at all – your skin is very dry.
- Heavy marks on the T-zone – you have combination skin.
- Barely notable marks around the nose and forehead – your skin is normal.
How do different skin types react to sun exposure?
Our skin always reacts to environmental factors, especially during the summer months. Sun rays are extremely aggressive, and if you want to have that bronzed summer look, you absolutely have to use some sort of sun protection.
If you have oily skin, you’re lucky as you don’t have to worry about peeling or dehydration. On the other hand, that oily film you probably have on your face can partly reflect UV light, resulting in an uneven, patchy tan.
For the dry skin, even the tiniest sunburn is damaging. The thin epidermis layer can get so dried out that it blisters, causing swelling and even wounds. Make sure to use sunscreen, as well as additional hydrating and nourishing products.
If you were blessed with normal skin, take good care of it and don’t forget to use sunscreen and moisturizer.
Even if you have blemish-prone skin of a pronounced skin type, it is possible to improve its condition using proper products. The priority here is to choose wisely and get the best skin care possible. For instance, the Yofing skin care line is designed specifically for various skin types: the Refining Facial Treatment Set would be perfect for oily and combination skin, while the Hydration Skin Care Set would suit those who have dry and normal skin.
Don’t neglect skin care, as skin is the first thing to show your real age and health condition. In the end, “glows from within” – a phrase often used to describe a good-looking, sophisticated woman – are words every one of us wants to hear.
