Do you moisturize your face? Every day? The answer is probably yes. But people tend to forget about body skin - you can't really see it under your clothes. But the cream is still needed - to restore the protective barrier, to prevent dryness and peeling.
How to take care of body skin
The minimum program for body skin is cleansing, moisturizing, and nourishing.
And if everything is clear with cleansing (we take a shower every day), the last two points are worth reminding, because they are often ignored.
Moisturization is necessary for all skin types, including normal skin. It reacts badly to a lack of moisture:
- Loss of smoothness;
- Elasticity decreases;
- Defenses are weakened;
- The skin dries, ages, and becomes uneven.
Causes of dry body skin
The list of factors could be endless, here is just a short list of the main ones.
- Heredity.
- Age and/or hormonal changes.
- Vitamin and mineral deficiencies in the diet, strict or unbalanced diet.
- Inadequate drinking regimen.
- Adverse climatic and environmental conditions.
- Frequent contact with household chemicals.
- Visiting a swimming pool with chlorinated water.
- Synthetic clothing.
- Increased insolation.
- Improper care.
How to moisturize your skin
To keep your body skin nice and smooth, start moisturizing as early as the cleansing stage - taking a shower or bath.
Use shower gels based on oils, plant extracts and algae. There are cleansers that are so rich and balanced in composition that the skin does not need additional moisturizing after the shower.
You can add a few drops of lavender essential oil or, for example, rose oil to the bath.
Adjust the water temperature so that it is not hot, otherwise the protective hydro-lipid mantle of the skin will be disturbed.
Knee cells inhibit regeneration and do not allow moisturizers to saturate the epidermis with moisture, so use a body sorbet once or twice a week.
Rules for moisturizing your body skin
Rule number one: apply moisturizer to damp skin. The movements are circular, massaging from the ankles to the hips, stomach and beyond.
Choose moisturizers according to your skin type and personal preference: the texture should be comfortable and the smell pleasant.
If your skin is normal, an emulsion and a lotion will do.
For dry and very dry skin, balm, cream or oil.
The skin of the body needs especially intensive moisturizing:
In winter, when it experiences temperature stress and dramatically loses moisture;
After being in the active sun;
When recovering from an illness.
Moisturizing your body is especially important during hot, sunny seasons, as well as in winter.
